Vindaloo is a very popular dish in India for good reason. This dish has a depth of flavor that reflects its long history. A Portuguese-influenced dish from the region of Goa, it was originally made with meat, wine and garlic later modified to use vinegar. With 11 spice ingredients, our Vindaloo spice blend has lots to offer. Known to be fiery hot, we reduced the amount of Kashmiri chili powder to bring down the heat level. More traditionally made with chicken or pork, it can also be made with vegetables and tofu. It pairs well with Reisling or beer.

Tired of your shrimp cocktail? Try this as an appetizer hot or cold with Sauvignon Blanc. This exotic spice blend is from the Malabar region in Kerala, the southwestern state of India. With a few simple ingredients it elevates the flavor of shrimp, and has a medium spiciness. It’s fantastic on white fish, grilled or simmered in a curried sauce.

In India each region has its own version of Garam Masala, and is used in practically every dish. Garam Masala blends can have anywhere from 5 to 15 spices.

Seena’s Garam Masala is a family recipe, calling upon the traditions of my mom and aunts back in India. The flavors are aromatic, complex yet not overwhelming, intriguing and earthy. It’s an easy way to add the complex flavors of India to any dish. This spice blend was originally designed for traditional Seekh Kebab; ground meat which is mixed with spices, skewered and grilled.  Seekh Kebab pairs well with hearty red wines such as Syrah or your favorite Bordeaux-style wine. However don’t limit the use of this addictive spice blend; it is equally delicious on lamb chops or vegetables. We have even created a non-traditional Rajma recipe using kidney beans to feature this spice blend– it is that good!
